SLC launches impartial inquiry into Panadura vs. Kalutara PCC match
29th January 2017, Colombo: The Tournament Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is convening an emergency meeting this evening, as part of an impartial inquiry into complaints from the match officials that there may have been foul play during the Panadura SC vs. Kalutara Physical Cultural Club match played on 25th at the Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.
Panadura SC claimed their 5th win in the Tier B segment during the recently concluded match. The club which won the toss and elected to bat first reached their target of 165 within just 13.4 overs. “This emergency meeting by officials of the tournament committee will be a decisive meeting during which all evidence will be tabled and carefully studied,” K. Mathivanan, Vice President of SLC and Head of Domestic Cricket said.
Accordingly SLC will appoint an independent committee comprising on eminent individuals who will study the facts and reports before reaching a final decision on the matter. The management has stated that the process will be expedited judiciously and a decision is to be reached within a week.
Commenting on the process, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Bandula Dissanayake said that the SLC will act forthright on the matter and will take appropriate action consistent with the regulations and for the SLC own reputation for probity.
The management of the SLC has vehemently stated that it will not condone any illegal acts that destroys the spirit of the game or brings disrepute to the sport and the board.
