Korean businessmen ready to invest in Sri Lanka
Leading businessmen in South Korea have expressed willingness to invest in Sri Lanka.
President Rajapaksa who is currently on an official visit to South Korea met a group of leading business delegates. The South Koean delegates during this meet lauded the high economic growth achieved by Sri Lanka. This progress attracted them to make investments in Sri Lanka and launch business ventures. The President apprised the Korean business community of the current situation in Sri Lanka and the vast opportunities for trade, investments and tourism for Korean companies in the country.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Jae Hee Song, Vice Chairman and CEO of the Federation of Korean Industries Byung Chal Jung, Chairman of the Korean Exporters’ Association Lee Ju Jae and Chairman of the Korean Chamber of commerce and industry Sohn Kyung Shik held discussions with President Rajapaksa.
Later, Chairmen of the Hanjin Group, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering and Lotte Group of Companies discussed with the President about available investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. Speaking to the four Korean conglomerates the President Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka is today able to provide a robust new investment destination as a frontier country to the rest of the world.
President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral, Chairmen of the BOI and Sri Lanka Tourism and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Korea Tissa Wijeratne were present at these discussions.
