Most Crime Reports From Western Province
Most crimes reported to the Police are from the Western Province, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara said last week.
He told reporters that 46 per cent of crimes reported this year are from the Western Province and noted that in all, over 25,000 incidents of crime had been reported to the Police so far this year.
He also said that if a serious crime takes place in the Western Province, top Police officers in the area can be contacted by the public to seek assistance. Meanwhile the IGP said that the public can contact him on 0718591002 if they feel there is a serious incident which they need to convey to him.
The IGP also insisted that no one can be arrested without a proper investigation and pointed out that there is a system followed when a court order is obtained to make an arrest and that system is carefully followed.
The IGP also insisted that the law is implemented by the Police without looking at race or status, be it in the North or South.
