ITN glitters at the Raigam Tele’es again winning the highest number of Awards
The Independent Television again glitters at the Raigam Tele Awards Festival grabbing the highest number of Awards. In addition to clinching the most number of Awards at Raigam Tele’es, ITN also became the best TV Channel of the Year.
The Raigam Tele’es 2011 was staged at Water’s Edge last evening. The Awards night was graced by many Parliamentarians including Senior Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake. Raigam Tele’es covers all sectors of the Television media. It includes tele-drama as well as Sports, Children’s, Political, News, Documentary, Reality and many other programmes not forgetting technical sectors too. Irfan Mohammed of Vasantham TV was feted with the Best Tamil medium TV News Presenter of the Year.
A number of ITN tele-drama artistes received merit awards of the Jury. Thisuna Perera who displayed his talents playing the role of a child in the “Swaayanjatha” teledrama received a merit Award. Chamila Attanayake who played the role of Gunawansha in the “Senakeliyai Maya” of ITN came in for appreciation by the Jury. Anura Bandara Rajaguru who played a role in the “Swaayanjatha” teledrama also came in for appreciation by the Jury, while Priyankara Ratnayake who acted in the “Kadadora” teledrama also telecast by ITN received a special merit award of the Jury. Nalin Prematilake and Pujitha Sangadurai received the Award for the best Make Up Artiste in “Swaayanjatha” telecast by ITN. Deepthi Mangalasoma received the Award for the best Art Director of the same teledrama. The best tele-drama lighting Award was presented to Chinthaka Somakeerthi for his contribution to the “Kadadora” teledrama telecast by ITN. The Best Music Director was Nawaratne Gamage. He received the Award for his contribution to the “Swaayanjatha” tele-drama telecast by ITN. Bandara Eheliyagoda was honoured as the Best Lyricist also of the same tele-drama. The Best tele-drama male vocalist was Sunil Edirisinghe who rendered the song “Parameedam” in the “Swaayanjatha” tele-drama. Nanda Malini who contributed to the same song was adjudged the Best female vocalist. ITN – the Family Channel has again been consolidated as the top place in the tele-drama field, for receiving the highest number of nominations Athula Pathirana who played an outstanding role in the “Swaayanjatha” tele-drama received the Award for the Best tele-drama supporting actor, while Prathibha Hettiarachchi received the Best supporting Actress for her role in the teledrama “Senakeliyai Maya.” “Sihina Piyapath” telecast by ITN was adjudged the most popular tele-drama.
Also the rising tele-drama actor’s Award was presented to Ryan Vanroy for his contribution to “Kadadora” telecast by ITN. The Best Actor’s Award was presented to Bimal Jayakody who played the leading role in the tele-drama “Senakeliyai Maya” telecast by ITN.
Damitha Abeyratne was the Best tele-drama Actress of the Year . She received the Award for her outstanding role in the “Swaayanjatha.”

Saranga Disasekara was the Most Popular Actor of the Year for the role he played in ITN’s Most Popular tele-drama.
Nehara Peiris was the Most Popular Actress of the Year.

Chairman of the Independent Television Network Rosmand Senaratne and Tele-drama Director Thilak Gunawardena were present with the Special Tribute Awards for their significant contribution for the television field of arts. The Prathiprabha Lifetime Award was awarded to Veteran artiste Tony Ranasinghe. The capture of 14 of the 44 Awards at the Taigam Tele’es by ITN was a notable feature. Accordingly, the Family Channel ITN became the TV Channel to secure the highest number of Awards at this Festival.
