Consular Corps London officials witness the real situation in Sri Lanka

Officials of the Consular Corps London are touring Sri Lanka to have a glimpse of the real situation prevailing in the island.

A group of members of the Consular Corps London spread throughout the United Kingdom are on a visit to the island to see to themselves the present situation since the liberation of the country from the terrorists. They undertook a visit to the North yesterday. A media team of the Independent Television Network received an opportunity to have a discussion with the group.

Clarifying the visit of the group Ministerial Advisor of the Sri Lanka High Commission of the United Kingdom Chaminda Kularatne said that there is a group of officials elected through a vote of diplomats in the United Kingdom representing various countries. Some of these officials are now on a visit to the island. He said that there are about 500 officials representing European as well as other countries spread in the United Kingdom.

President of the Consular Corps London George Georgio said that they had come from London. Sri Lanka Tourism invited the Western polity to visit Jaffna. They are glad to have the opportunity of visiting the Nallur Kovil. They also gained new experiences. He said they wished to express their gratitude to Sri Lanka for this opportunity given to them.

Bervard Silver of Consular Corps London pointed out that they were representing the Western polity. The aim of their visit is to gather data to find out whether Sri Lanka is suitable for tourists. This is not a political tour. Actually they are satisfied with the progress achieved by Sri Lanka. He opined that they are also glad with regard to the manner in which the Sri Lankan Government was maintaining cultural and civil activities.
