Sufficient water in Ampara for cultivation
Water sufficient for cultivation is being provided to farmers in Ampara despite the prevalence of dry climatic conditions.
At present dry climatic conditions are being experienced in most parts of the country. Also many cultivations have been destroyed. However, it has been possible to cultivate 150,000 acres of paddy land in the current Yala season due to the sufficient supply of water in the Ampara District. There are fourteen main tanks within the District, including the Senanayake Samudra.
Ampara District Secretary Neil De Alwis said that they have sufficient water for cultivation in the Yala season due to the systematic provision of water.
