Ranaviru Real Star Grand Finale Today
‘Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 2’, one of Sri Lanka’s most-watched reality shows will have its grand finale
today, Friday, July 6.
The concept of a reality television show focused on the country’s soldiers was born out of a desire
to see our war heroes accepted among society, said Dr. Mohan Samaranyaka, Chairman of Sri Lanka
Rupavahini Corporation, addressing the media at a press conference on the eve of the finale. “Our
soldiers are just like us, capable of great creativity and as appreciative of the arts as we are,” he said,
inviting the audience to not just take his words at face value, but to see them justified by watching the
talented soldiers perform.
The highly-successful Mission 1 of Ranaviru Real Star received the highest number of SMS votes for a
reality show finale in Sri Lanka, they added. This time around the preliminaries were recorded live and
broadcasted around Sri Lanka by Rupavahini. With the striking surroundings of war zones and military
backdrops adding to the concept of the show, Ranaviru Real Star has gained great popularity among the
general public, stated Lakshman Hulugalle, Director General of the Media Centre for National Security.
The five finalists Ayomi Perera (SL Army), Gayan Arunapriya (SL Navy), Lance Corporal Kavinda
Dumindaraj )SL Army), Sergeant Asela Manukulasuriya (SL Army), and Imali Anuruddhika (AL Air Force)
