Mongoose Adventures, Sri Lanka’s leading adventure sports provider is proud to be the local sponsor for Lanka Challenge 2012, the popular three-wheeler driven escapade for charity.

After captivating the world through three sublime editions, this year’s Lanka Challenge will take place from 1 to 11 September.
The Lanka Challenge will see intrepid travellers from around the world traverse over 1,200km’s around the island in Sri Lanka’s most iconic mode of transport – the three wheeler.
“We are proud to support a challenge that uses something that is characteristically Sri Lankan; the three wheeler,” said Mongoose Adventures Managing Director Nishan Silva.
“Since its inception in 2009, we have followed the Lanka Challenge and have always been interested in being a part of this one-of-a-kind challenge.”
This year there will be 20 teams with 45 participants from 10 different nationalities, which includes three teams which will have Danish celebrities (actors, actresses, models and comedians) who will be filmed for a reality TV show appearing on TV 2 Zulu.
“Lanka Challenge’s continued support to local communities at grass-root level through their responsible travel initiative is another reason that drew us to support this challenge,” added Silva, explaining that Lanka Challenge contributes funds to local schools in different provinces through facilities improvement, resource donations and tree planting activities.
Lanka Challenge gives participants the chance to experience of some of the most fascinating historical sites and natural delights in the island.
Large Minority Partner and Organiser Juan Paredes who along with Julian Carnall conceived and organised the event said, “This year’s Lanka Challenge promises to be an incredible adventure. We are very excited to finally get a chance to visit Jaffna and interact with the local communities whilst exploring undiscovered territory.”
Speaking of Mongoose Adventures involvement he adds, “We are delighted to welcome Mongoose Adventures as our 2012 Lanka Challenge sponsors. It is a real pleasure to associate ourselves with such a unique travel company. Mongoose Adventures is a perfect match for our event due to their fresh approach to tourism and commitment to promoting alternative travel in Sri Lanka.”
