Sri Lankans respond in a fitting manner to the world through elections – Foreign media
Foreign media have reported that the Sri Lankans have responded in a fitting manner to the world through the election results. This has explicitly displayed the rapport between the Government and the people.
The foreign media attributed the Government’s development programme and the resettlement process to the election victory.
All India Radio mentioned that President Rajapaksa’s programme was a basic factor for the election triumph of the United People’s Freedom Alliance in the Eastern Province. The Opposition had suffered a major setback in the provincial polls. All India Radio also reported that the people’s nod for the Government’s political programme is a clear verdict given to the world.
India’s “The Hindu” newspaper mentioned that the Sri Lankan Government had succeeded in giving a successful response to human rights and other accusations leveled from the international community.
Foreign media institutions such as the BBC and CNN had expressed views in respect of the polls held in Sri Lanka. These media institutions said that the elections had further consolidated the existing links between the Government and the people.
