Training for hiring vehicle drivers in Arugambay

A two-day training program for hiring vehicle drivers catering to the tourism industry commenced on Monday in Arugambay. The two-day program conducted by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority will provide vital information and training to hiring vehicle drivers catering to the Tourism Industry in the area. Over 50 hiring vehicle drivers who are taking part in the program will be issued identity cards by the SLTDA.

Speaking at the inauguration President Chamber of Tourism and Industry A.M. Jaufer said that the training provided by the Tourism Development Authority would be very important for the hiring vehicle drivers. He further said that the program was made possible due to a request made by the Chamber of Tourism and Industry to Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa and Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena to provide assistance to develop the Tourism Industry in the Eastern Province.
This is the second program conducted by the SLTDA in Arugambay. The first one being a Mobile service during which facilities were provided to hotel operators to register with the SLTDA.
Consultant Trainer Somarathna Pathirana Deputy Director Domestic Tourism SLTDA Upul Wijegunawardena and Tourist Police Officer in Charge Nayanapriya Edirisinghe also were present on the occasion.
