Direct flights between Sri Lanka and South Korea further strengthening relations
South Korea expects to commence direct flights between Korea and Sri Lanka to develop closer ties between the two countries and promote tourism.
A meeting between Minister Basil Rajapaksa and a Korean Parliamentary delegation was held at the Ministry o Economic Development. Korean MP Chung Uihwa said that they expected to launch several programmes in the future to promote friendly ties between the two countries. The Korean MP said that by now a number of Korean-funded projects have been launched in Sri Lanka and Korean investors have already invested in the country since the island’s infrastructure has been developed to meet the needs of both investors and tourists following the end of the conflict.
Many Korean funded projects are already in implementation in Sri Lanka. The delegation said that more investors from their country are hoping to invest in Sri Lanka.
Minister Rajapaksa said that the Korean-funded convention centre in Hambantota and the hospital in the Matara District are expected to be opened soon.
