Former England Cricketer Bob Willies says one of the England players scratched the ball, during the concluded ODI played against Sri Lanka at the Oval.
Willies has told British media that it was the reason why the umpires Aleem Dar and Billy Bowden took the decision to change the ball.
According to Willies, Aleem Dar knew that one of the English players was scratching the ball.
“He knows that one individual is scratching the ball for England — who I am not going to name — and that’s why the ball was changed.”, Willies was quotes as saying in British media.
However the England team has insisted that the ball was changed because it went out of shape.
England lost the game against Sri Lanka by seven wickets.
The host should beat New Zealand in today’s game to ensure a spot in the semi-finals.
