In continuation of the ‘Mega Tourism Road Show’ held in March-April 2013, the tourism promotional campaign in CIS countries, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation with the collaboration of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will launch the second phase of the promotion campaign in the Russian Federation from 3 to 17 July 2013.
This time the campaign will commence from the capital of Russia, Moscow, and will take its journey through four other major cities of the Russian Federation: Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Ufa and Yekaterinburg covering a distance of almost 4000 kilo meters on wheels. Hence, the campaign is aptly named ‘Mega Tourism Caravan’.
The long journey and the promotional campaign of almost two weeks aims at popularising Sri Lanka in Russia, strengthening of cultural and business cooperation, enhancement of mutual understanding between our countries and most importantly promoting Sri Lankan tourism.
At each city there would be shopping mall activations to include Ayurveda spa treatments, demonstration on preparation of traditional handicrafts and liquid tea service, cultural shows, workshop for tour operators, press conferences and photo exhibitions. Moreover, in Moscow there would be a grand cultural show along with a reception held for leading travel and tour operators, media personnel, tea industrialists and Sri Lanka diaspora.
With befitting the theme of the campaign ‘Days of Sri Lanka in Russia,’ this unique opportunity will allow both general public and tour operators of Russia to learn better of the rich culture, scenic beauty, pristine beaches, traditional dancing, exotic flora and fauna, gorgeous cultural festival and many more of the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’.
This time also the main collaborator of the campaign is the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau under the patronage of Bashwara Goonarathna, Chairman of the SLTPB. Other major participants are Siddhalepa, Laksala and SriLankan Airlines. Cultural troupe led by Maestro Chandana Wickramasinge will conduct cultural shows at each city and also will perform during shopping mall activations.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, under the assiduous and untiring leadership and guidance of Udayanga Weeratunga, is the main organiser of this ‘Mega Tourism Caravan’.
