Arus on allegations of taking commissions resigns from two posts

A.R.M Arus who is the President of the SLC’s umpires association as well as the Manager of the Sri Lanka Women’s cricket team has resigned from both posts owing to allegations aimed at him for talking commissions.
The allegation is that he had asked for a commission from The Sri Lanka women’s skipper Shashikala Siriwardena for promoting her to obtain a sum of money from the ICC for making arrangements for her to get a fee for an advertisement for the 20/20 women’s ICC tournament. In tis regard the coordinating secretary of the women’s cricket team Vensa de Silva and the former CEO Ajith Jayasekara has already recorded statements from Arus.
It is learnt that A.R.M. Arus had been a senior administrative officer of the SLC and also a Member of the selection committee.
The SLC has named Channa Weerakkody as the Manager for the forthcoming tour of Ireland while as the Acting President of the Umpires Association,Srinath Silva has been appointed.
