Hamilton Canal project vested in the public
The Hamilton Canal project has been vested in the public, giving a boost to the tourism industry and providing many benefits to the people.
The Hamilton Canal project was launched by the Western Province Road Development Authority with the funds provided by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Economic Development Ministry. The project was completed in a short span of three months increasing resources for the tourism industry. The project was vested in the public under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The Minister also inaugurated the imposing bridge built over the canal. The project consists of walking paths, resting places, fruit and food outlets and a playground for children. A boat service has also been launched for tourists. Minister Felix Perera, Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Parliamentarians Neil Rupasinghe, Sudarshini Fernandopulle and Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Nobuhito Hobo were amongst a large number of people who participated in the occasion.
