Sri Lanka September tourist arrivals up by 26.2-pct

Sri Lanka increased tourist arrivals in Sept. 2013

Sri Lanka has received 89,761 tourists during the month of September, recording an year on growth of 26.20-pct.

Last year September, the Island has only seen an arrival figure of 71,111.

In the meantime, during the first nine months of 2013, Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals has recorded a figure of 801,120 tourist arrivals, compared to last year’s same periods 693,772 visitors.

During the said period 307,831 tourists have arrived from Western Europe, recording a 14.4-pct year on year growth.

Arrivals from the East Asian region has gone up by 25.2-pct during the said period, thus amounting to 112,065 tourists.

India has sent the highest number of tourists from a single country during the first nine months of this year, accounting for 131,589 tourists, a 7.8-pct year on year growth.
