Bond report goes public; MS begins stage two; UNP appoints committee
The report by the Presidential commission which investigated the treasury bond issue, was made public on Wednesday.

President Maithripala Sirisena said that in keeping with his promise to ensure transparency, the report of the Commission of Inquiry on the Issuance of Treasury Bonds was published online in English.
The President also said that stage two of the bond issue has been launched and as part of it he has instructed the Attorney General, the Director General of the Bribery Commission and other officials to proceed with legal action.
Meanwhile, the United National Party (UNP) said it has appointed a committee to study the contents of the report.
UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim said that a three-member committee has been appointed to study the report.
President Maithripala Sirisena had earlier assured tough action after the Presidential commission investigating the treasury bond scam recommended steps be taken against former Finance Minister and UNP Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake, former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and Perpetual Treasuries head Arjun Aloysius.
According to the report, the public suffered a loss of Rs. 11.5 billion as a result of the treasury bond deal.
The report also said that Perpetual Treasuries had made profits over 11,145 million. (Colombo Gazette)
