SSC, Chilaw Marians CC, Ragama CC and Colts CC on song

MAJOR LEAGUE SUPER 8S:

SSC, Chilaw Marians CC, Ragama CC and Colts CC were on song winning their respective matches in the Sri Lanka Cricket Major League Inter-Club Tier ‘A’ cricket Super 8 matches last week.

SSC routed Ports Authority CC by innings and 82 runs, Chilaw Marians CC brushed aside Saracens by a massive 244 runs, Ragama CC got the better of   NCC by five wickets and Colts beat BRC by three wickets.

The highlights were Chilaw Marians Sachithra Serasinghe’s consistent run making striking 109 and 87 in becoming the season’s leading run accumulator with an aggregate of 786. His teammates B.O.P. Fernando made 112 and off spinner Malinda Pushpakumara had a match bag of 9 wickets for 144 (3/71 & 6/73). It took him past 50 wickets for the season.

Meanwhile, SSC’s Kaushal Silva’s progressive form in the tournament. The former Sri Lanka Test opener, starred with his second successive century in the tournament scoring 120 studded with 15 boundaries. His teammate Chamara Kapugedera too notched up 109 packed with 18 boundaries and a six. The other centurion as Colts CC’s W.M.S. Dilranga struck124 inclusive of 16 boundaries and 1 but could not save his side from defeat.

 At Colts: Ragama CC won by 5 wickets.
