Seekkuge Prasanna stars with bat and ball in Army’s 2-wicket win over CCC: Badureliya vs. Moors & Bloomfield vs.Tamil Union drawn

Seekuge Prasanna starred with bat and ball hitting a match winning 63 and claiming 5 wickets for 45 in bowling out CCC for 120 in the second innings in reversing fortunes for Army for a 2 wicket win after conceding a 68-rn first innings lead at BRC grounds.

Batting first, CCC scored 333 with L. Abeyratne scoring 109 off 142 balls inclusive of 9 boundaries and 3 sixes. K.D.V. Vimukthi claimed 5 for 66. Army replied with 265 on a top score of 62 by D.D. de Soysa and Prasanna 39. Sachith Pathirana took 7 for 76.

CCC flopped in the second innings against the spin of Prasanna who went on to top score with 63 in taking his side to 189 for 8 to claim victory. The rest of the fixtures between Badureliya and Moors and Bloomfield and Tamil Union were drawn

At Bloomfield grounds, Moors totalled 214 with T.M.S.A. Baduge scoring 53 and K.T.H. Ratnayake 43.  A.A.S. Silva took 4 for 51.

Badureliya went on a run spree making 338 on a top score of 97 by M.S.U. Perera while N.M.M.P. Nawela made 95 and J.A.S. Chathuranga 37.  N.S. Pathirana took 4 for 79. Moors were equal to the task in the second innings amassing 386 for 5 declared. L.P.C. Silva struck an unbeaten 121 off 108 balls inclusive of 11 boundaries and a six while T.M.S.A. Baduge made 79 an  P. Waduge 64.

Needing 263 to win, Badureliya closed on 121 for 4 on an unbeaten 67 by P. Nissanka and 47 by Nawela.

At Moors grounds, Bloomfield made 323 propelled by an unbeaten 137 off 147 balls by R.T.M. Mendis who hit 17 boundaries and 5 sixes. B.M. Mendis claimed 6 for 100.

Tamil Union went past Bloomfield totalling 336 with B. Fernando making 82 and Tharanga Paranavithana 76, D. Wickramanayake 50 and S. Gimhan 50. K.M.M. de Silva claimed 5 for 56.

Bloomfield made 301 for 8 in the second innings when stumps were drawn. N. Franscisco top scored with 120 off 186 balls and containing 13 boundaries and a six while S.A.N.J. Fernando was unbeaten on a run a ball 103 containing 9 boundaries.
