Russian couple wins a free Sri Lankan ‘Holiday Package’
A Russian couple who arrived in Sri Lanka for a 17 day holiday on Saturday morning was surprised when they were handed over a 6 night / 7 day free holiday package by the Island’s tourism official.
The move, part of Sri Lanka’s efforts to celebrate its recording breaking feat during the year 2013, which saw the Island receiving the highest number of tourists per annum.
With yet another month to go in the ongoing year, Sri Lanka has already surpassed the 1,005, 605 tourists it received during the whole of 2012, which was also a record figure.
The wining couple Mikhalev Vitaly and Ms. Belova Tatiaua, both husband and wife, can use the free Sri Lanka holiday package, during their next holiday in the Island.
The duo has chosen Sri Lanka as their holiday destination after watching a television program on Sri Lanka, aired by ‘Pathnethsa’ of Russia.
They were randomly selected by the Lankan officials, when they landed at the BIA, Colombo.
Sri Lanka Tourism is planning to attract 2.5 million tourists arrivals per annum by 2016.
