Wynne vows no increase to HST, gas tax for transit expansion
Premier Kathleen Wynne has taken gas tax and HST increases off the table as ways to pay for Toronto and area transit improvement.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, she didn’t specify what “revenue tools” would be used for the multibillion dollar big move project.
The premier also ruled out an increased income tax for middle-income earners.
“This isn’t the kind of decision you can make in a couple of weeks,” Wynne said in refusing to give details on what the budget will include with respect to raising money for transit.
“I am the premier who is dedicated to creating that revenue stream,” she said while visiting a Toronto family.
