Queen of Humour passes away amidst the honour of hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankans
Veteran Cinema, Teledrama, Stage Drama actress and Comedian, Mercy Edirisinghe was ailing for sometime and was admitted to several hospitals and finally passed away this morning. She entered the field of Arts in 1964 through the “Nawaka Madala” musical programme and then entered the Stage Drama arena in 1967. She joined the combination of the immortal trio of Samuel, Annesley and Berty in radio comedies and won the hearts of a legion of people across Sri Lanka. She also became popular through the radio drama “Handiye Gedara”.
