Stephen Harper asks Conservatives to investigate MP Eve Adams’ behaviour

OTTAWA—The prime minister has asked the Conservative party to investigate a series of allegations made by grassroots members against Ontario MP Eve Adams.

Adams has been swept up in a controversy over her battle for the Tory nomination in a suburban Toronto riding.

Her fiancé Dimitri Soudas was forced to resign as party executive director amid mounting concerns he was using his position to help her win.

Now the Conservative riding association board in Oakville North-Burlington has written to the prime minister asking him to help resolve issues around Adams’s conduct.

A Conservative party source says Harper takes the matter seriously and has asked the party’s governing body to look into the issue.

Among the allegations made by the riding association is that Adams has unfairly used the party’s internal membership database, as well as her House of Commons mailing privileges, to contact potential supporters.

Adams was not immediately available for comment.
