Injustice will not be caused to any community – President.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that certain groups are attempting to create problems among communities and religions by spreading false rumors, and he will not allow injustice to be caused to any community in the country. He said this while taking part on the occasion to vest in the public the Manumunai Bridge which was built connecting Batticaloe – Kokkadi Cholei through Ampara. Speaking on the occasion the President said that no race could subjugate another race and the present Government works for the prosperity of all communities. The President said that leaders whom they had voted and not voted had come and laid foundations and gone. It was the present Government which could solve the problems which prevailed over many years. Certain politicians now say that injustice could be caused to Tamil villagers. The President said that he would guarantee that no race would be allowed to subjugate another race. He added that the leaders present there would do the same. The length of the Manmunai Bridge is 210 meters and the breadth is 9.8 meters and there are two lanes for pedestrians. 1870 million rupees has been spent on these joint projects between Sri Lanka and the Japan International Corporation Agency. Project Minister Nirmala Kotalawala, Deputy Ministers Bazeer Segudawood, Vinyagamoorthy Muralidaran and M.L.A.M. Hisbullah, Eastern Chief Minister, Mohan Wijewickrema, Chief Minister Najeeb A Majeed and Acting Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Asako Ukayo were present on the occasion.
