SLIM holds 44th AGM, appoints 2014/15 Council of Management and Executive Committee

The 44th Annual General Meeting of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) was held recently, which saw the appointment of Kalana Rathnayaka as the 36th President of SLIM for 2014/15.
The Council of Management and Executive Committee of SLIM for this period was also appointed at the meeting which took place at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.
SLIM has a proud history of 44 years while 35 prominent marketers have graciously served the Institute in the capacity of President. SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka, who took over from Gamika De Silva, spoke about the honour of being appointed to this prestigious position.
“I am humbly honoured to take on the position as the President of the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka. I will strive to continue the good work carried out by past Presidents and pledge to bring all stakeholders together under the theme ‘Gather for Greatness’. I am confident that the new Council and Executive Committee will serve the institute with utmost dedication and passion, and support me in achieving greatness in my tenure.”
Immediate Past President Gamika De Silva expressed his gratitude for the support he received from all stakeholders of SLIM during his tenure.
“A wonderful journey has come to an end for me, and while thanking all who helped me during my tenure, I wish to congratulate Kalana Rathnayaka on his appointment, and wish him all the very best in taking this prestigious institute towards greatness.”
SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake expressed confidence that the new appointments would build on the good work carried out over the past few years.
“SLIM has successfully achieved its goals during the past few years, and I am confident that we will reach greatness under the able guidance of Kalana Rathnayaka, his Council of Management and Executive Committee.”
The Council of Management for 2014/15 comprises President Kalana Rathnayaka, Managing Director The 7 Ps Solutions Ltd., Vice President Dhanesh R. Jayathilaka, General Manager Infinitas Healthcare Ltd. and Xiteb Ltd., Vice President Ruwan Liyanagamage, Country Manager Godrej Household Products Lanka Ltd., Secretary Upul Adikari, Manager Marketing Communications Hatton National Bank PLC, Treasurer Elangovan Karthik, DGM Marketing Citizens Development Business Finance PLC, Assistant Secretary Charitha Jayasingha, Manager Business Development LOLC Insurance Company Ltd., Immediate Past President Gamika De Silva, Senior Manager Marketing Etisalat Lanka Ltd. and Sanath Senanayake, CEO/Executive Director Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing.
The Executive Committee members for 2014/15 are Suranjith Swaris, Sales & Marketing Manager Coats Thread Exports, Shohan Chandiram, Channel Sales and Small and Medium Business Lead Microsoft, Neluka de Alwis, Head of Sales and Marketing Shangri-La Hotel – Sri Lanka, Roshan Fernando, Head of Marketing – FM Derana, Pradeep Edward, General Manager NovEx Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Sri Lanka, Sanjana Seneviratne, Marketing Manager McDonald’s Sri Lanka Abans Restaurants Ltd., Thilanka Abeywardena, Category Manager – Data Services Etisalat Lanka Ltd., Ranga Perera, Advertising Manager Ceylon Newspapers Ltd., Leonard Jayasinghe, National Sales Manager Sinwa Marketing Ltd. and Shaminda Perera, Senior Brand Manager Reckitt Benckiser Lanka Ltd.
