- newsfirst.lk

The case pertaining to the murder of British National Khuram Shaikh and the gang-rape of his girl friend, Victoria Alexandrovna was taken up in court on Wednesday.

The Manager of the Hotel where the incident occurred, R. B Ranga Peiris appeared as a witness before Colombo High Court Justice Rohini Walgama.

Responding to the cross examination by the defendant’s lawyer, the witness said she had informed the police what she saw and witnessed on the day of the said incident, and rejected the claims that she had withheld information.

When the defence proposed that the statement made by Ranga Peiris to the police had no important events on the day of the incident – she said that she had no clue as to why all information that was provided during questioning, had not been recorded.

The witness told the courts that though she signed the statement, the police did not read the contents of the statement and did not make it clear to her.

The witness said that during her twenty two years of service, this was the most fearful experience she had encountered, besides several other minor incidents and recollects all events on the day of the incident.

The case will be taken up in court at 9.30 am on Thursday.
