Mars Rovers and Solar orbiters – space tech at the UK’s ‘Space City’
The UK’s space city is blasting off from a small town just outside London. Long-known of as a town developed to shelter London’s overflowing population, the UK’s Stevenage is now giving Europe’s space missions a boost with a host technology. With Mars Rovers and solar-orbiting satellites under development it’s been dubbed the “Houston of the UK.” Inquisitive rovers making their way across the red planet. This little piece of Mars is allowing several rover prototypes to be tested and developed in a specially-constructed test area. The surfaces are painted a reddish-brown to resemble the features on Mars and a large mural of the martian landscape is used as a backdrop.
