Sri Lanka wins Rugby Sevens Shield at Commonwealth Games
Sri Lanka were the victors of the Rugby Sevens Shield tournament in the Commonwealth Games 2014. Sri Lanka beat Trinidad and Tobago in the finals of the Rugby Sevens Shield championship that got underway at the Ibrox Stadium, on Sunday.
Sri Lanka was leading 24-0 at Lemons, and were able to add 19 more points in the second half to win the finals.
Sri Lanka scored seven tries and four conversions to their total of 43 points, while the opponents, Trinidad and Tobago could only add a converted try to their score. The final score stood at 43 – 7.
Sri Lanka beat Barbados , 37-0 in theri Semi finals match.
Meanwhile, Chandrika Subhashini who represented Sri Lanka qualified for 400 meters womens semi finals. Chandrika ,in the first heat of the event clocked a time of 53 point 75 seconds to secure the first place.
