Entrepreneurial know-how for dairy farmers
A programme has been launched to get the contribution of farmers and entrepreneurs connected to dairy farming in the Ruhuna to gain self-sufficiency in milk.
This programme will be implemented under 'Deyata Kirula" national programme with the assistance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, National Entrepreneurial Development Authority and the Provincial Secretariats. The farmers and entrepreneurs will be educated in the know-how on commercial milk production through technology, financial resources and allied services.
Programmes have already been started on financial management and transactions and exhibitions etc. for buyers and sellers, and also market opportunities, for small and medium entrepreneurs.
Programmes on the financial management of dairy farming have also been started in the Bentara, Balapitiya and Hikkaduwa Provincial Council areas.
Entrepreneurs, farmers and investors as well as the members of the public interested in this programme can obtain details from the Entrepreneurial Development Officers attached to the Provincial Councils. (NJ/KH)
