Gota’s land auction
The Ministry of Defense and Urban Development has presented three cabinet papers to sell or lease state lands to private companies. The cabinet paper bearing no. 14/1041/503/093 presented on 28.07.2014 is to hand over a land on Sirimawo Bandaranayaka Mawatha in Kandy to Asiri Hospital Holdings Pvt. Ltd. The extent of the land has not been revealed. It is evident that the land would be sold.
The cabinet paper 14/1054/503/097 presented on 28.07.2014 is to sell a land at Madinnagoda in Rajagiriya to Araliya Grand Colombo Hotel Pvt. Ltd. The extent of this land too has not been revealed.
The cabinet paper 14/1052/503/095 presented on 31.07.2014 is to lease a land on Galle Road at Kollupitiya to Lee Hedges Investment Ltd.
The Secretary of the Defense Ministry Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, making use of the powers of the Ministry, is taking over commercially valued lands throughout the island to sell or lease to the private sector.
