Miracle reached in AIDS
The number of AIDS patients has increased by 250% under the present government. The first AIDS patient was identified at Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital in 1987. From that day until 2005, during a period of 18 years, the number of AIDS patients recorded was 243.
However, between 2005 and 2013, a period of 8 years, the number of AIDS patients soared to 1845. The number identified in 2013 was 196, which is the highest number recorded since the first AIDS patient was recorded.
The threat that the situation getting worsened exists when Casino is introduced to lure 2.5 million tourists as governments economic policy as stated in ‘Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma’ (a vision for the future).
Making ‘leisure economy’ the economic strategy of Rajapaksa administration and establishing nudist beach zones, organizing vulgar entertainment such as ‘Hikka’ carnivals and giving incentives by the government to make available one million rooms in residences throughout the island as a part of this strategy would increase AIDS in Sri Lanka to hazardous proportions warn health sections.
