Henry Pedris Park Development Project Joint Venture of FFSL & Colombo Municipality Council MOU

It is a historic moment for Football Family specially for Colombo as the signing of first ever Municipality Playground Henry Pedris Park development project undertaken by FIFA with Colombo Municipal Council to construct the first Artificial Football Pitch in the country.

His Worship the Mayor of Colombo MJM Muzamil addressing the gathering said that he is happy that Henry Pediris Park will be developed by FIFA /FFSL for the betterment of Football Family in Colombo and will enhance the City beautification and Community based facilitation drive in the country specially in Colombo with an international stranded  playground in the city.

He thanked FIFA for coming forward and Hon Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage FFSL President Mr. Ranjith Rodrigo and Officials of FFSL for all members of his Municipality Council, Municipality Commissioner, all members of the community for extending their support in this endeavor to make it a reality. 

He guaranteed that the grounds once developed will be shared by FFSL and CMC but the Community stake holders specially the Clubs, Schools will enjoy the facilities without any problems.


Mr. Ranjith Rodrigo, the FFSL President said that the occasion is creating history of 75 years of Football in Sri Lanka when the Henry Pedris Park Development with an investment of USD 1 Million to construct an  Artificial pitch as the first step and he is confident that FIFA /FFSL will develop this Park elevating it to International stranded stadium.

The second step will be constructing of the Complex ,Pavilion , then the  Auditorium, Dormitory for 50 players and coaches /Officials  Gymnasium and lastly the Floodlights which will be an iconic stadium in Colombo for the betterment of Football family and the community of Colombo.

Mr. Ranjith Rodrigo expressed his gratitude to FIFA President Mr. Joseph Sep Blatter for all the assistance extending to Sri Lanka and FIFA DO South and Central Region for supporting Sri Lanka to secure funds for development projects. He thanked Mayor of Colombo Hon.MJM Muzamil ,Deputy Mayor Hon Titus Perera Municipal Commissioner Badrani Jayawardena, Municipality Secretary Mrs.HDC Janaki, Legal Officer Mrs. DND Fernando and Director Sports and Recreation Mrs Shalika Ranaweera  and  Media who were present at the occasion. A special mention was for Hon. Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage who not only supported but also assisted in many ways to make this happen.
