Strong winds up to 60kmph over sea areas of Northern, Northeastern coast

The Met. Dept. forecasts that Strong winds at times (up to 60kmph) can be expected over the sea areas off the Northern and Northeastern coast. Winds speed can be strengthen up to 70-80kmph at times in the Bay of Bengal.

 

Showers or thunder showers will occur in the Northern sea areas and showers will occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island.

 

Winds will be Southwesterly and the speed will be 20-40 kmph.

 

The sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai and the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil may be rough at times as winds can strengthen up to 50-60kmph.
