Shilpa 2014 Exhibition now at the BMICH

Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development ceremonially opened the National Exhibition and Trade Fair “Shilpa 2014″ held at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre on Thursday (28).

The National Exhibition and Trade Fair “Shilpa 2014″ has been organized with the aim of promoting handicrafts and traditional industries. The event has been jointly organized by Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development, National Craft Council, National Designing Centre, Palmyra Development Board and Kithul Development programme.

 

The exhibition demonstrates about 1800 products which were selected from provincial and district competitions. The Trade Fair includes about 150 stalls which would be given at concessionary rates to producers avoiding the meddle men to ensure direct income to producers. This exhibition will be conducted daily from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm till next Sunday.

 

Senior Minister A.H.M Fowzie,  Douglas Devananda, Minister of Traditional Industries and Deputy Ministers Weerakumara Dissanayake, Dulip Wijesekara also participated at this occasion.(KH)
