President instructs to release necessary funds to assist drought stricken people
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Treasury Secretary Dr.P.B.Jayasundara to release necessary funds to relevant authorities to provide financial and material assistance to people in the drought affected areas. Accordingly those affected will be provided with dry rations and financial assistance.
The President has also brought to the notice of the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation the requirement to implement a well organized programme to provide water to the wild animals living in national parks in the drought affected areas. He has instructed them to fill up natural ponds in the hungle by transporting water through water bowsers as a way of providing water to the wild animals.
