Sun overhead today on Halmillewa, Ambanpola, Polonnaruwa and Passikudah

According to the Met Department, that Several spells of light showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.


Strong winds at times (up to 60kmph) can be expected over the central hills, Northern parts of the country and over the sea areas off the Northern, Northeastern and Eastern coast. Winds speed can strengthen up to 70-80kmph at times in the Bay of Bengal.

 

On the apparent southward relative motion of the Sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 28th of August and 07th of September in this year.  The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun will overhead today (02), are Halmillewa, Ambanpola, Polonnaruwa and Passikudah about 12:10 noon.

Afternoon or evening thundershowers likely in Trincomalee and Batticaloa.

 

Several spells of showers in Rathnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Colombo and Galle.

 

Mainly fair in Jaffna , Anuradhapura and Mannar.

 

Max. Temperature of 35 °C is expected from Trincomalee. Min. Temperature of 13 °C is expected from Nuwara Eliya.
