Audio: Siripala wants a list, JVP goes to HRC
The JVP leader of the group of candidates for Uva PC election Samantha Vidyaratna has filed a fundamental petition in Human Rights Commission today (19th) against the violation of fundamental rights of state employees due to a written statement sent to all state institutions in Uva Province by P. Illeperuma, a coordinating secretary of the Minister of Irrigation & Water Resources Management Nimal Siripala de Silva, asking to submit immediately a list of JVP and UNP activists. The coordinating secretary has sent the request on instructions from Minister Siripala.
The petition asking an immediate inquiry into the statement and forward a recommendation was filed through JVP Western PC Councilor Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala with the assistance of Attorney-at-Law Thusahara Ranatunga.
JVP Western PC Member Lakshman Nipunarachchi and several representatives of trade unions were present.
