INFOTEL 2014, South Asia’s biggest Information and Technology Exhibition organised by the Federation of Information and Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) will open at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on 24 October.

The event will be held from 24-26 October and the inclusion of many novel and innovative features will be a specialty in this year’s exhibition – a long-awaited annual happening in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) calendar.
Successive INFOTEL exhibitions have adopted significant progressive initiatives to develop the ICT industry in Sri Lanka.
Expressing his views on INFOTEL 2014, FITIS Chairman Chinthaka Wijewickrama said: “We have been conducting this annual exhibition consecutively since 1992. The salient feature of this year’s event is the incorporation of many progressive features. They are a unique addition to the selection on offer. A noteworthy feature is the demarcation of a special Shopping Area, where ICT products and services will be on sale at reasonable prices and with a comprehensive warranty for the benefit of visitors to the INFOTEL – 2014 Exhibition.
“Visitors to this event can see for themselves and personally experience the newest, state-of-the-art technology in relation to computer software and hardware, Big Data, Mobile Computing, Cloud Computing, Digital Signature and Computing Gaming. INFOTEL – 2014 is the only key platform in Sri Lanka which brings together under one roof Chief Executives, eminent professionals and decision-makers in the ICT sphere, apart from entrepreneurs, educationists, students from schools and universities and people from all walks of life. It will be more focused towards the country’s national growth and increasing IT literacy.”
“As the biggest ICT-related happening, this event draws lakhs of visitors every year. It is the biggest show in the ICT sector. At INFOTEL – 2014, there will be around 400 exhibition and trade stalls. What will be unique is that the exhibition will not be limited to showcase ICT products and gadgets, but will be one of international standards and a meeting place for corporates, buyers, sellers, recruiting companies, career seekers and IT enthusiasts alike,” the FITIS Chairman explained.
INFOTEL 2014 will also offer the opportunity for organisations the world over to participate in having their stalls and products displayed at this event. It is an ideal platform for ICT stakeholders in Sri Lanka and other international countries to explore and capitalise the new growth and wealth creation opportunities in the country, he said.
Wijewickrama said that many reputed local and international companies in the sphere of computer software and hardware, digital equipment, ICT education and training, web designing, mobile phones, computer games, telecommunication services, electric and electronic appliances, media and leisure will display their products and services as active participants in INFOTEL 2014.
“Customers will have easy access to these products, services and total ICT solutions offered by these leading companies under one roof at this exhibition. They can purchase their needs and requirements under professional guidance,” he said.
In addition, special ICT-related professional cum higher education-based programs will be conducted at the venue for the benefit of university students as well as students at school and tertiary levels.
FITIS is launching a series of new programs with the primary objective of developing all aspects of the Information and Technology sector. The annual INFOTEL Exhibition plays a significant role and is a key feature of this ongoing endeavor.
As the main integrated body, FITIS is representative of many important institutions in Sri Lanka’s ICT sector. Sri Lanka Computer Sellers’ Association (Hardware Sector), Sri Lanka Software Industry Association (Software Sector), Sri Lanka Computer Trainers’ Association (Training Sector) Internet Services Providers’ Association (Communications Sector), Information Systems Auditors’ Association and Information Technology Chartered Association (Professional Sector) are the key institutions associated with FITIS.
