From the budget 2015 the salaries of government servants increased

The budget for financial year 2015  was presented to parliament by the President who is also the Finance Minister on the 24th October,which was the 10th budget of the UPFA and the 69th in the history of Sri Lanka.

The draft budget for 2015 was proposed by the Prime Minister on the 26th September to parliament.The largest provisions have been made for defense and urban development ministry.The amount allocated is Rupees 285 billion.

For the highways and Navy ministry the amount allocated is Rs 200 billion.While a sum of billion 113 allocated to economic development ministry and 47 billion to education ministry and Rs 139 billion for Health.

However special focus has been made to the following:

The income per person ( per ca-pita income) in 2015 of 4000$ to be increased to  7500$ by year 2020.A fee of $ 100 to be charged for entrance to casinos.Also for import of vehicles a special tax is to introduced.

It has been proposed to reduced the static charge for water by 10% for those who consume less than 25 units of water..

To protect the paddy farmer the kilo of rice to be increased from Rs 34/- to Rs 40/-and had promised to increase the prices of chilliest ,potatoes,and onions also.

To allow the fertilizer subsidy of Rs 350/- to remain was another incentive.

It was proposed to increase the price of fresh milk to Rs 60/-and to reduce milk powder by Rs 100/per kilo. and to reduce the local yogurt by Rs 3/-

It was proposed to increase the salaries of pre school teachers by Rs 2500/- and to increase the allowance of Ayurvedic doctors by Rs 5000/-

For students who have passed the scholarship exam instead of Rs 500/-Rs 1500/ increased allowance to be paid.For a year the amount increased to Rs 15000/ to Rs 25000/-

The Mahapola and  for higher education students the monthly allowance to be increased from Rs 2500/- to Rs 4000/-.is proposed.-

All citizens to be allowed to have health check ups at government hospitals for which rupees million 500 is allocated.

The allowance to senior citizens to be increased from Rs 1000/- to rs 2000/- and also for parents allowance of rs 750/-  for allowing children to join forces to combat terrorists to be increased to rs 1000/-.This allowance also to be increased to police and civil forces.

Proposed to increase the wages of government employees to around Rs 15000/- It is proposed to increase all allowances and col by Rs 2200/- to be increased up to Rs 10,000/-.The minimum wage of a government employee to be increased to Rs 15000/-
