Onion farmers in a pickle at Dambulla
Big onion farmers who had not been able to sell their produce at a reasonable price at the Dambulla Economic Center have carried out an instant agitation. They say the reasonable price for their produce should be between Rs.90 to Rs.95 a kilo but the price has dropped to Rs.40.
The situation has been created due to importing big onions from India complain big onion farmers. At the moment restriction for importing potatoes too has been lifted.
Farmers being made to carry out agitations at a time when an election has been announced are the consequences of the economic policies followed by Rajapaksa regime point out political analysts.
