Inspired with the unanimous support received after the international launch of Lotus World, the path towards inner happiness, the promoters announced their future initiatives recently.
Speaking at a Media Roundtable, Lotus World Spokesmen Navin Gooneratne and Gagan Malik focused on their planned programs in Sri Lanka with an overall aim to benefit a world in turmoil.
Co-founded by Navin Gooneratne and Gagan Malik, the duo through the Lotus World and its respected members, hope to inspire those who have the capacity to give and help those in dire need, to continue their good deeds, thereby attaining inner happiness in return.
The Movement, which calls all who yearn for inner happiness to remove themselves from the present path of strife and ultimate destruction, instead leading a life replete with compassion, harmony and wholesome co-existence, has developed a series of programs furthering this aim.
As an initial venture, the Lotus World together with the Narada Foundation and its founder Ven. Kolonnawe Narada, have scheduled to distribute books to children of diverse religious faiths. The objective of this program is to encourage both the children to perform ‘one good deed a day’ and record it, inculcating compassion and happiness, in their parents as well.
Another initiative already taking place is the free screening of the timeless cinematic classic ‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’. Gagan Malik, the Indian star actor, who gave up his glamorous life to tread the path to serve humanity stars as the main lead.
To-date screening in several districts including Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Ampara, Badulla, Kandy, Matale and Ratnapura, mainly targeting children have already taken place.
Free screening of the film was triggered by an email received from a child specialist from Canada who saw the film and wrote; “This is indeed a timeless marvelous cinematic classic, as described, shown and seen. Not only does it portray most beautifully and at times tearfully the early life of Prince Siddhartha, who later became the Buddha, which is of tremendous cultural and religious significance but is also of important value to adults as well as to all children as an educational experience.”
“In a world shrouded and clouded by extreme materialism, incredible corruption, ruthless revenge severe hatred and animosity, this is indeed a learning experience especially in the formative pediatric age groups. It is clearly known in the pediatric medical circles that formation of ideals and values have to be instilled in a child’s mind before the age of ten years. Therefore in every respect this is a magnificent film which should never be missed and worth its weight in gold.”
The international launch of Lotus World held recently at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations witnessed the participation fo a very distinguished gathering including Dr. Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura of Thailand, as Chief Guest.
