Motorbike ‘dansala’ boomerangs on Mahinda
The distribution of motorbikes, a main component of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s programme to get votes, has boomeranged against him say reports. As a result an announcement is to be made officially stating that the project would be stopped on an order from the Commissioner of Elections.
It had been published that the motorbikes would be given for a sum of Rs.50,000. Meanwhile, it is planned to deduct Rs.860 starting from the January salary of the state employees who have obtained the bikes under the scheme. This deduction would be carried on for 60 months.
Accordingly, at the end of 60 months those who have got the bikes would have paid Rs. 101600 for the bike.
