Petition against oppression in SLTB
A petition has been filed in Human Rights Commission by the All Ceylon Transport Workers’ Union against using resources and personnel of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) for the election campaign of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The General Secretary of ALTWU Sepala Artigala and a group of employees filed the petition today (18th) making the Commissioner of Elections a respondent.
Mr. Sepala Artigala speaking to the media after filing the petition said, “The government has dragged the SLTB to the level of a whore-house. It has been made a center for Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s campaign. Employees of SLTB are being forced with threats to engage in President’s election campaign. The Commissioner of Elections should take steps to bring this situation under control immediately.”
