Vasantham TV celebrates first birthday

The Vasantham TV Channel which brought spring to the Sri Lankan Tamil community celebrated its first Anniversary.

Sri Lanka’s pioneer TV Channel, the Independent Television Network was identifying the need of a new access to entertain the Tamil-speaking community at a time when the country was witnessing an awakening with the mega development drive after the total eradication of terrorism. However, ITN which was operating a Tamil Radio Channel at that time, mooted the Vasantham TV Channel on the 25th of June last year.

Vasantham TV which was earlier available on VHF Channel 09 for the Western Province viewers and on UHF Channel 25 for the North and East viewers, now transmits not only countrywide, but also worldwide.. It is embedded with many novel programmes, including entertainment. The Anniversary celebrations were unveiled with multi-religious ceremonies.

The Ven. Hanguranketha Chandarathana thera, Kurukkal Vishwabrhmam Gandhan, Moulavi Marshad Bari and Rev. Fr. R.J.Dharmaraj took part in these religious ceremonies.

Chairman Rosmund Senaratne opined that they can join hands to make Vasantham TV the No: 1 Tamil TV Channel. In this competition, he said he had no qualms that it would become a reality with the dedicated staff.

Vasantham TV is geared to traverse on a long journey with the strength of a nation, standing up in unity, sinking all differences.
