SLIM relaunches Diploma in Strategic Brand Management

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has re-launched the Diploma in Strategic Brand Management (DSBM), the first and only branding qualification in the country, with a host of changes aimed at increasing its practical effectiveness and relevance to local industries.
The changes have come about as a result of extensive research and surveys conducted by SLIM among professionals in various industries. The feedback during the surveys has helped SLIM identify the needs of industries and companies and thereby changed the syllabus, improve the quality and add value to the diploma.
DSBM is the only avenue for a specialist in branding to obtain a qualification in Sri Lanka. The revamped DSBM includes experience sharing sessions featuring eminent personalities in branding and an added focus on practicality to prepare students for the challenges of the corporate world.
The course covers subjects such as Role of a Brand Manager, Brand Marketing, Branding in Merchandising, Campaign Planning and Process, Strategic Level Branding and Brand Finance.
Speaking at the relaunch of DSBM, SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka spoke about the importance of the position of Brand Manager.
“Behind every world renowned brand there is a brand manager whose ideas and innovative thinking have contributed to the development and strengthening of that brand. Due to the international exposure of local industry professionals and consumers, there is growing appreciation of the importance of brand managers in Sri Lanka. This is one of the main reasons why SLIM looked at the initiative to fill that gap within the country with this pioneering qualification. And also we would be thankful to our lecturer Hashan Haputhanthri for his immense support in revamping this program.”
SLIM VP Education Ruwan Liyanagamage commented on the educational needs of students.
“Sri Lanka has had a consistently impressive record in terms of education and a largely educated population. With the revamped DSBM we have taken great care to cater to practical needs of modern education and this will certainly help students gain an understanding of what awaits them in the corporate world as branding professionals.”
SLIM CEO /Executive Director Sanath Senanayake spoke about how SLIM is adapting to the current changes to satisfy the needs of Sri Lankan marketers.
“We decided to revamp the DSBM in order to make it more relevant to the local environment. I am confident that the changes will benefit students in their professional lives and enable them to elevate the quality of branding in Sri Lanka and I wish them the best of luck.”
DSBM is designed for people who are currently in brand marketing and related functions and those who are not involved in branding professionally but interested in branding as an added qualification.
All prospective students can obtain further information from SLIM Home and Subodha on 0727 669 339.
