‘Thun kal dekma’ - a nonstarter?

- lankatruth.com

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa who has full executive powers and deploys all state resources to carry out his election campaign has come down to a level that he is not been able to launch his election manifest either say political analysts.

They point out that the launching of ‘Mahinda Chinthana thun  kal dekma’, his election manifesto, that was to be launched tomorrow (22nd) has been put off to the 26th.

What is interesting is Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa has not been able to launch his election manifest before 550,000 state officials who are eligible for postal votes cast their votes.

Mr. Maithripala Sirisena has already launched his election manifesto. Political analysts had predicted that Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa would launch his election manifesto in response to Mr. Sirisena’s manifesto. However, Mr. Rajapaksa has not been able to compile the manifesto yet say sources.

Minister Dallas Alahapperuma, confirming the worst situation Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa has fallen to at present, said today (21st) that the manifesto would be launched on the 26th. Responding to a journalist Minister Alahapperuma said ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’ does not change from one election to another.  Political analysts say if what Minister Alahapperuma says is correct Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa could have launched his manifest before Mr. Sirisena did.
