A letter sent with the signature of DIG Gamin Navaratna to all police stations today (22nd) early morning states motorbikes would be made available to personnel in the department and they should have Rs.50,000 ready to get them.
It is revealed that publishing that motorbikes would be made available when postal voting is to take place tomorrow (23rd) to the 25th is an operation by Rajapaksa faction to get votes of about 84,000 personnel in the police department and their families.
This attempt has been made as the last attempt before the postal voting takes place when the project to make available motor bikes to state employees including the police has completely broken down.
Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa never mentioned in his budget proposals that members of the security forces would be given motorbikes. However, suddenly yesterday (21st) members of the Army were informed that they would be given motorbikes.
