Corporate leaders return after successful leadership program in Japan

23 Senior Officials from leading companies and organisations of Sri Lanka had the rare opportunity to participate for the Senior Corporate Management Leadership Program in Japan.
The program was organised in collaboration with Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) and The Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA) of Japan. HIDA of Japan is an organisation for human resource development in developing countries to promote technical cooperation through training, experts dispatch and other programs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
This program provided the opportunity for the participants to observe the leadership skills necessary to widen their perspectives as leaders and explore their own leadership styles.
The objective of the program was to deepen participants understanding of the basics of leadership, the leadership skills necessary for senior corporate persons as directors and general managers and aim participants how to aspire to take leadership roles in companies.
Participants deepened the understanding of leadership characteristics of successful Japanese leaders through case studies, examples of the leadership role of senior corporate executives, company visits and direct dialog with Japanese corporate leaders and scholars.

 
The Group had the rare opportunity to visit Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, Toyota Motor Corp., Tsutsumi plant and Museum, The Entrepreneurial Museum of Challenge and Innovation, National Panasonic Museum, Ogura Co.Ltd, Muruya –Hatcho Miso, eco-R Co. Ltd and Kirinjuku Co Ltd.

 

 

Sampath Senannayake, one of the participants said: “It was indeed a valuable human capital development exercise where our lives will change immensely from now on for the betterment of our employers, economy, society and country. We have decided to become role models and change agents and exert greater influence on our country for the betterment of economic development. HIDA team and the resource personnel were extremely professional and courteous and we were treated as honoured guests to their country. We thank executive committee, management and staff of JASTECA for the opportunity given and organising this program professionally and all of us have agreed to become active members of JASTECA.”
