Minister Basil Rajapaksa introduces special plans for tourism promotion
Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that plans are underway to achieve the expected targets in the Tourism sector.
The Minister said that they are considering making the law more lenient for the foreign tourists as the local laws may cause certain difficulties for them. He said that it is the first priority that they are considering.
The Minister expressed these views when participating in a special programme held at the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. The aim of the programme was to raise awareness in the officials of the Economic Development Ministry, who deal with Tourism Promotion. Fulfilling shortages in tourist destinations to make those more attractive, launching new programmes to draw foreign tourists to the country and launching programmes that exceed the traditional framework of the Tourism industry were subjected to detailed discussions.
