Wiens Ready To Row For Hoosiers
NAPPANEE – Kennedy Wiens has been a prep standout on both the volleyball and tennis court during her athletic career at NorthWood High School.
The Panther senior star will now look to make her mark in a boat on the collegiate level.
Wiens recently signed her letter-of-intent to compete for the Indiana University Rowing team starting in the fall.
Wiens has earned four varsity letters in both volleyball and tennis at NorthWood. She has earned numerous honors in both sports, including All-NLC accolades and MVP honors in each.
Wiens has also been a star in the classroom, where she carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and has earned Academic All-State honors in both volleyball and tennis. She has also earned a four-year NorthWood Scholar Athlete Award.
Wiens was a State Finalist at No. 1 doubles in 2016 for the Panthers and is currently playing No. 1 doubles for coach Tif Schwartz’ team this Spring.
Wiens will join a pair of former area athletes already on the rowing team at Indiana. Wawasee High School graduate Liz Hardy, who played both volleyball and competed in track, and Grace Horan, who attended South Bend St. Joseph, are both freshmen members of the team.
The Hoosiers, who are coached by Steve Peterson, compete in the fall and spring.
